East German Mot-Schützen Platoon
Includes four MPi KM Assault Rifle teams with RPG-18, four RPG-7 Anti-tank teams, four Medium four-hole bases, four Small two-hole bases and three Unit cards.
The company’s riflemen are armed with the classic AKM assault rifle, or MPi KM (Maschinenpistole Kalashnikow Modernisiert) submachine-gun as the East Germans called them. Each squad is also equipped with an RPK squad automatic weapon, disposable RPG-18 anti-tank rockets, and the powerful RPG-7 anti-tank rocket launcher.
The company is backed up by a platoon of six belt-fed PKM machine-guns, as well as AGS-17 30mm grenade launchers, all mounted in BMPs.
With the threat of war looming the companies have had their old Strela-2 anti-aircraft missiles replaced with newer Strela-3 (Arrow-3) aircraft missiles (known as SA-14 Gremlin in the West). These are deployed in a squad, mounted in another BMP, attached from the battalion’s air defence platoon.
